I Heart Scribbish
I have a confession to make. I really like scribbish. I don’t like it to the point that I get a hard on when thinking about it. But I like it enough to actually spend time thinking about it and posting some of those thoughts to this blog.
For those not familiar with it, scribbish is the theme used by this blog. It was originally built for typo, but was later ported to work with mephisto and wordpress. The wordpress port is what enabled me to use this theme.
Though a lot of people see its use as a badge of laziness or lack of design talent, I actually have good reasons for liking it. It has a clean, simple and uncluttered design that fits my preference for minimalist aesthetics. Its apt use of the Georgia font for the title is also a nice and endearing touch.
It also has a lot to offer for web standard geeks. Blog entries are formatted as according to the hAtom microformats specifications. And like everyone knows, microformats are good for the semantic web. The simplicity of scribbish also makes it easy to modify. I just haven’t gotten around to doing it. And actually like the scribbish’s default appearance.
So what do you think? Is scribbish in your future?
